Academically, the college initially had an intake of 50 undergraduate (BDS) students and later increased to 100 by the Dental Council of India (DCI) from 2011 onwards. KIDS was affiliated to Utkal University for 2 years (2007 & 2008) before becoming a part of KIIT Deemed to be University in the year 2009. The institution is recognized by the Dental Council of India and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. Moreover, KIDS has also got approval from the DCI to start its post graduate course (MDS) from the academic year (2014) ineight specialties & from academic year 2017 in all nine specialties. In the academic year 2020 KIDS got approval from academic council of KIIT Deemed to be University to start PhD. Programs in all 9 branches of Dentistry. Dental Sciences is proud of its very competent, dedicated, highly qualified and experienced faculty members who have created a learning process that is effective and thoroughly impactful.

The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows

Mentoring Students at Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS) contributes significantly to the academic, Clinical and emotional wellbeing of our students. A student, attached to a faculty mentor for five years, develops a special bond with the faculty, resulting in greater exchange of ideas and improved career guidance. To make the mentoring rigorous and value adding, faculty members keep a detailed record of their mentee and track his/her performance and attendance regularly. A monthly mentoring report is created by the faculty and overall mentoring effectiveness is monitored regularly by the college management.

ANTI RAGGING COMMITTEE

As per DCI regulations on curbing the menace of ragging, it is the responsibility of KIDS to ensure that no incidence of Ragging takes place. As per the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s direction, KIDS has its own Anti-Ragging committee and Anti-Ragging squad which works to maintain a Ragging-free campus. There is also a Monitoring cell on Ragging at the University level.

Patient Grievance Redressal Cell

A Patient Grievance Redressal Cell under the chairmanship of the Principal was established at Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS) in the year 2012.

At KIDS, we follow an instant Grievance Redressal where a contact number is displayed in all departments, reception and laboratory to which the patient can give a miss call. The patient is attended by the member of the Grievance Redressal Cell within 10 minutes to provide all necessary assistance and take instant remedial measures.

Moreover, patients can directly contact the Chairperson, Member Secretary and members regarding their complaints.

Administrative Block

Located on the ground floor of the main college building and spread over an area of 4630 sq.ft, the Administrative Block has the look of simplicity and elegance. It houses the Principal’s and Administrative Officer’s chambers which are aesthetically designed and furnished to give a fascinating look.

Besides, there is an exquisitely crafted Conference Room and a Meeting Hall. The HR and Accounts Department are also part of the Administrative Block.

Two walls of the block called as “The KIDS Wall of Fame” are specially designed and dedicated for showcasing and preserving prestigious honours, displaying awards, achievements and photographs of staffs & Students. “KIDS Kaleidoscope” is another area where you would find collage of every year’s events since 2007.
