World Oral Health Day Month 2024

NSS unit of Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, KIIT Deemed to be university observed World Oral Health Day Month from 9th March – 9th April 2024 

With following events: 

Our events aimed to raise awareness about oral health and promote preventive measures within our community & people. 

Event Details:

1. Event Title: “Smile for a healthy Life”: Empowering Oral Health Awareness”
2. Objective: To educate individuals of all ages about the importance of maintaining good oral health.
3. Activities: 
   • Oral Health Workshops: Conduct workshops in schools, community centers, and local clinics to educate participants on proper oral hygiene practices.
   • Free Dental Check-ups: Organize free dental check-up camps where participants can receive basic oral health assessments and advice.
   • Awareness Campaigns: Utilized social media, posters, and pamphlets to spread awareness about oral health.
   • Collaboration with Local Dentists: Partnered with local dental professionals to provide expert guidance and resources.

Lecture at KIDS Auditorium for Advanced Dentistry:

• On March 20, 2024, the dental doctors & PGTs at the KIDS Auditorium, KIDS, conducted whole day lecture: 
• The lecture included: 
  • A PowerPoint presentation.
  • Educational videos.
  • Group discussions.
  • Question and answer session.
• The focus of the lecture was on “Practical Tips for Optimal Oral Health.”
• The aim was to educate participants on the importance of oral hygiene through interactive presentations and hands-on demonstrations.
• Topics covered during the session: 
  • Proper brushing and flossing techniques.
  • Preventive measures.
  • Common oral health issues.
• The day served as a platform to highlight: 
  • The significance of maintaining good oral hygiene habits.
  • The importance of preventing oral diseases.
  • The need to promote worldwide access to oral healthcare services.
• Oral health issues, such as cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer, are prevalent globally and can have far-reaching consequences on individuals’ quality of life, including physical, social, and psychological well-being.
• Participants engaged in small-group practical demonstrations, receiving guidance on effective brushing and flossing using provided tools and samples.
• A brief Q&A session allowed for clarification and personalized advice, followed by a recap1.

Faculty of Dentistry Program:

• As part of the WOHD month the Faculties, Students and PGTs at KIDS celebrated and organized a program on the occasion on March 20, 2024.
• Approximately 210 teaching faculty members, non-teaching staff, interns, and students participated in the event.
• The program included: 
  • Awareness talks by senior faculty members.
  • Oral health screenings for attendees.
  • Distribution of educational pamphlets on oral hygiene.
  • Demonstrations of proper brushing and flossing techniques.
  • Interactive sessions with students to address their queries.
• The event emphasized the role of oral health in overall well-being and encouraged everyone to adopt healthy oral hygiene practices.
