Celebrating Oral Pathologists at KIDS, KIIT University
February 25, 2026 | Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, Bhubaneswar
Every year, dentists and specialists gather in clinics and hospitals to treat patients, but behind every accurate diagnosis lies the meticulous work of a professional who rarely steps into the spotlight. On February 25, 2026, the Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences (KIDS) in Bhubaneswar threw open its doors to color, creativity, and celebration, honoring these unsung heroes on National Oral Pathologists Day.
The campus was buzzing. Students had put up art installations, painted faces, carved soap sculptures, and even made short films. It was one of those days that felt both festive and meaningful at the same time.
It Started with a Few Important Words
The day opened with an inauguration by the KIDS leadership. Director Dr. Jugajyoti Pathi, Principal Dr. Sangamesh NC, and Dean of Postgraduate Academics Dr. Aswini Ku. Kar, each spoke about why oral pathology matters so much. They talked about how oral pathologists are often the first to catch oral diseases early, before it turns into something serious. And how their research quietly shapes the way dentists treat patients every day.
The Students Stole the Show
Two student groups, Teams Khwab and Khoye Panne, organized the entire event, and they did a brilliant job. They set up painting and face-painting zones where students created art inspired by oral health. There were rangoli designs on the floor that somehow managed to capture the intricate look of cells and tissue. Stunning, really.
The soap-carving station was a crowd favourite. Students carved detailed sculptures out of soap bars, which sounds simple until you see how much skill and patience it takes. It’s actually a fitting activity for future oral pathologists, who need steady hands and sharp concentration.
And then there were the short films. Students made videos telling the story of oral pathology, what a biopsy is, how a diagnosis happens, and why it all matters. They were creative, clear, and informative. Science doesn’t always have to be dry, and the students proved it.
A Thank You That Was Well Earned
The event wrapped up with sincere thanks to the faculty who helped the students throughout. Without their support, none of this would have come together the way it did. Teaching isn’t just about what happens in the classroom, and days like this are proof of that.
KIDS has always believed that all its departments work together toward one goal: better oral health for people across India. That vision comes from our respected founder of KIIT/KIMS/KISS, Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, and it is reflected in events like this one.
Why It All Matters: Oral Pathology – The Bedrock of Healthy Smiles
Oral pathology isn’t the most talked-about in dentistry. But it’s one of the most important, which forms the basis of a proper diagnosis and healthy smile.
National Oral Pathologists Day 2026 was a reminder of why that matters, and a fitting tribute to every professional who has chosen to be a diagnostic detective in the service of healthier smiles everywhere.
