Following the philosophy of the “Art of Giving” initiated by our Founder, Prof. Dr. Achyuta
Samanta, under his leadership, a Mega Health Check-up six day-camp was organised by
The NSS unit of Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, Bhubaneswar at KIIT International School,
Bhubaneswar from 9.7.2024 to 16.7.2024.
The dental camps were conducted for 6 days.
The number of children screened each day was as follow:
Day 1: 205
Day 2: 288
Day 3: 479
Day 4: 365
Day 5: 300
Day 6: 223
The team of dentists screened students from LKG to Class XII. The camp included dental awareness talks, educating students about common dental ailments, particularly tooth decay and gum diseases, and its preventive measures. Students were motivated about the significance of regular dental check-ups and the necessity of maintaining good oral hygiene practices. The importance of maintaining a healthy and nutritious diet in preventing dental caries was also emphasized. The majority of children exhibited good oral hygiene. However, some were diagnosed with issues such as malocclusion, mild to moderate fluorosis, tooth decay, early childhood caries, generalized stains, calculus deposits, and fractured anterior teeth. Free consultations were provided, and proper tooth brushing techniques were demonstrated using a model and hands-on approach. Patients requiring further dental treatments were referred to the tertiary institute for comprehensive care, including complex procedures.
