Following the philosophy of the “Art of Giving” initiated by our Founder, Prof. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, under his leadership, a free Dental check-up and treatment camp was organised by NSS unit of Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, Bhubaneswar at JSW, Global Business School, Infocity Road, Bhubaneswar on 5.07.2024. the camp was conducted by the NSS unit of Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences on 5.07.2024. the dental camp was conducted. The camp provided free dental consultations to 193 patients, offering treatments such as scaling and restorations in a mobile dental van, while referring some patients to a tertiara institute for more complex procedures. The majority of patients were diagnosed with chronic generalised gingivitis, impacted teeth, grossly decayed teeth, tooth wear (generalised attrition and abrasion), and dental caries. Treatments administered included oral prophylaxis for 63 patients and restorations for 61 patients. Additionally, patients with tobacco chewing habits were referred to the tertiary institute for tobacco counselling. An educational oral health talk was delivered to all attendees, covering the importance of safeguarding gums and teeth against diseases, preventing tooth decay, quitting tobacco, maintaining good oral hygiene, proper tooth brushing techniques, and using appropriate dental hygiene practices.
