The NSS unit of Kalinga Institute of Dental Sciences, Bhubaneswar has collaborated with the HMV Driver Training Institute, Chhatia. Following the philosophy of the “Art of Giving” initiated by our Founder, Prof. Dr. Achyuta Samanta, a free dental screening and treatment camp was organized on 29.08.2024, as per the regular dental checkup camps to be conducted at the driver training institute. Basic dental treatments were carried out among 153 screened patients in the mobile dental van and some of them were referred to the tertiary institute for further complex treatment procedures. 12 patients were diagnosed with moderate dental fluorosis. Because of tobacco consumption habits patients were diagnosed with: Oral submucous fibrosis – 11 Leukoplakia – 18, Lichen planus – 1 Tobacco pouch keratosis -16. They were referred to KIDS for tobacco cessation counselling and other necessary treatment. An educative health talk was delivered to the patients regarding the benefits of quitting tobacco consumption. They were educated about proper toothbrushing techniques and oral hygiene maintenance.
